Audio training: Click Here# 1 Talking To Strangers
Starting a conversation with strangers is often something that is challenging for new people starting in the business.
There is a formula that will help you to get conversations started and have more success with talking about the business:
There are two things you need to master:
- the Greeting
- the Qualifying
- Draw attention to something removed … then
- Draw attention to something connected to that person
- Share something of yourself
- You: “isn’t this weather disgusting!” (something removed)
- Them: “yes … so sick of this rain!”
- You: “You off to work?” (something connected)
- Them: “Yes”
- You: “Do you work in the city?” (something connected)
- Them: “Yes”
- You: “What do you do?” (something connected)
- Them: I work in a legal office
- You: Oh, that’s interesting – are you a lawyer? (something connected)
- Them: No, I’m a PA You: Do you like it? (Qualifying)
- Them: “oh its okay but its really long hours and it is sooo boring and I have a boss who is just outrageous!”
- You: Well, I guess it must pay well then … (Qualifying)
- Them: No, not really You: Then why do you stay? (Qualifying)
- Them: What else am I going to do?
- You: Well, if I could show you how to earn an extra $500 - $1000 per month, without affecting what you are doing now – would you be interested in having a look? (getting to the point!)
Remember that
- YOU are leading this conversation …. They don’t know that … and they don’t know where you are going … it’s a little bit like “join the dots” …
- Be sincere – especially if you are complimenting as a method of starting a conversation.
- Do need to share something of yourself along the way
- You can’t go on to the qualifying without having built the rapport
